Mako's Drum and Bass label - Utopia Music forthcoming releases and free download track
UTOPIA MUSIC BIO
Utopia Music is the brainchild and life-long ambition of Mako. It was established out of a desire for the family to have their own imprint and identity in which not only to showcase their own ever-increasing catalogue of music, but also to other artists who have a similar style and approach. Driven by its founders Mako and production partners Mute, Utopia Music had an exciting 2010 with their first 12"being one of Itunes top 100 singles of the year.

Andyskopes Bio
Andy worked at the infamous Croydon record store Wax City back in the day, making lots of friends and contacts, while compiling an extensive record collection. During this time he started producing and had his first finished tune played by Bailey on BBC Radio 1xtra. From then on he was addicted.
Next step was signing his first tunes to local labels Jerona Fruits and Inperspective Records, his affiliation with these labels and growing reputation helped him to begin DJing around the UK and Europe. He gained support from big names in the DnB scene playing his music around the world and continued to produce and release music. There are not many artists out there who cover such a broad spectrum of styles ranging from the darkness of Drop the Truth, released on Soothsayer Records to the smooth, melancholy vibe of Reading by the White Lake, his next twelve on Utopia Music.
These days he works very closely with Mr Joseph’s Fizzy Beats label and Mako’s Utopia Music. He is a regular DJ at the popular Fizzy and Technicality nights, where he can show his passion for DnB of all styles, old and new. He also runs his own night in Croydon at The Blacksheep Bar, hosting all the big names in the scene. His most recent release is a collaboration with Mr Joseph on Seba’s Secret Operations label called Call to Arms and Trash Talk which has been receiving copious amounts of airplay on 1Xtra. He also has tunes signed to LTJ Bukem’s legendary Good Looking imprint and Doc Scott’s 31 Records. Watch this space.

HORO Vinyl Only Project and Straight Outta Brompton
With the public's disposable view of music rapidly increasing as we go further and further into the digital age, we wanted to put value back into our released recordings and in turn reward the people that still pay the most for their music. 'Horo' was a cloak attached to the back of armour worn by elite Samurai messengers in wartime. Capturing an elite tsukai-ban messenger wearing a horo was a coveted prize.
The 'Horo' vinyl series is an exclusive limited edition series that will come as a pre cursor to a release by the same artist on Samurai Music or Samurai Red Seal. Samurai Music began it's output on 10" singles that identified us strongly, so we are glad to return to the 10" format for these limited collectors items.
Preview the releases on the horo promo page… http://examplemedia.us2.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=96b1f059d792e95c371ac9a26&id=5c01ee3b08&e=9105956286

Weston Beach Race 2011 - The Epic Start
The Weston-Super-Mare Moto-X Beach Race start is pretty damn mental.
Witness 500+ riders blast off for 3 hours of racing around the 3 mile
sand track.
After an intense fight for three-hours around the grueling dune course, three time World Champion David Knight (MBE) took an emphatic win today at the Monster Energy fuelled RHL Beach Race at Weston-Super-Mare, after a battle which saw a number of riders take the lead throughout the super-tough race.
It was Honda rider Jamie Lewis who took the holeshot down the 1.5-mile straight with Knighter second, Tom Church third and 2011 triple British Champion Brad Anderson in fourth.
Also look for the falling Marshall whilst pulling out the start gate. 5p 50p comes to mind! haha
Full video coming soon at www.skateparkpages.co.uk

Weston Beach Race is coming this weekend - first peeps right here
First look at Weston Beach Race - this is going to be lively. Don't Miss out
This Weekend's RHL Beach Race Spectacular Looking To Be Full Of Action
The annual RHL Beach Race this year fuelled by Monster Energy at Weston-Super-Mare, which is taking place this weekend, is certainly looking to be another great event, as the technical and tough track has been assembled and is waiting for the hundreds of racers to take on the spectacular challenge.
With star riders multiple World Enduro Champions David Knight and Paul Edmondson taking on Britain’s 2011 triple MX1 British Champion Brad Anderson and Grand Prix local-man Tom Church, the on-track action with the stars against the amateurs is set to be incredible. Knighter is all set out to add a sixth win to his accolade, but Anderson’s unbelievable form this year, which has seen him scorch to a plethora of wins, certainly means we’re going to have a fight on our hands. Not only that with the local man from Bath Tom Church announcing his retirement in the new year, he will be looking to score highly along with late entrant and last year’s surprise podium finisher Luke Hawkins, who has suffered badly with injury this year, will also be looking to put some positive into the end of his 2011 season.
In the quad class Britain’s top dog Paul Winrow is looking to turn around a tough season with another beach race win, and with the course taking shape with some super-special obstacles for the racers to attack, the weekend is going to be phenominal one. In case you’re not familiar with the RHL Beach Race at Weston-Super-Mare, this event is the maddest, baddest and toughest of its types with up to three hours of grueling racing over dunes the size of houses in a technical course comprised with a flat out 1.5 mile straight down the seafront. The total track length is 6.8km and although the pros make it look easy, it’s certainly no mean feat as man and machine aim to conquer their personal bests, their own targets and if there is more of the unseasonable hot weather that was present at the start of the week, it’s going to be tougher than ever.
The RHL Beach race is now in its 29th year and has grown beyond the imagination of the original creators of the race, as its now an end of season festival that attracts thousands upon thousands of spectators who wish to get a glimpse of the madness as it unfolds. The start is possibly one of the biggest spectacles with up-to 1,000 riders thundering down the beach into the first turn and the atmosphere is always electric, there really is nothing like it. The festivities down at Weston-Super-Mare have already begun as RHL Activities held a press day on Tuesday to get local and off-road media up-to-speed with this year’s plans.
The events company, which has been involved in the race since its inception, also held special schools and colleges events on Wednesday and Thursday to introduce new people to the sport, educate them on the industry, as well as the history and importance of events like Weston to its local economy. RHL Activities and Monster Energy will also be holding a special welcome party this evening to open the event officially in Monster’s very special event unit, which is open for spectators throughout the event weekend. The main action however takes place this Saturday and Sunday with the adult quad and sidecar races on Saturday as well as the junior quad and 65cc event in which our sports youngsters will tackle the beach race challenge on a shorter course, while Sunday will see the rookies and junior 85cc riders take on the course prior to the main solo race, In between races Monster Energy will be providing entertainment, while Extreme Trials rider Steve Colley will be showcasing some of his amazing displays on both days to wow the crowds and continue the excitement of the weekend throughout each day.
The event is certainly not to be missed, with entertainment at the Grand Pier on Friday night from the UK’s best Motown act and World-famous soul act the Three Degrees, along with special ride discounts on Saturday night, there’s something for everyone. At the race there will also be a number of trade stands and it’s a great family weekend out for both motorsport lovers and those not normally interested in racing – this event is definitely spectacular you won’t believe it until you see it!

The Chimpo Interview
Email interview by Alex Cox - September 2011
OK firstly big up's for doing this interview, thanks for your time to speak to the peeps at www.skateparkpages.com
Let’s start the with basics – Name, Age and Home town?
Chimpo, 27 years young from Manchester
How long have you been in the music game? Was it something you always wanted to do from a young age?
Yeah, I started making tunes when I was about 12 on two tape decks and a little Casio keyboard. I always wanted to do music but when I was in school I thought I’d be happy just working in a record shop! My first step into the scene was in a hip hop group called Northern Monkeys with my bredrin Gudz and JSD, who’s now in Virus Syndicate. I got into dubstep a few years ago and made a tune called ‘Kryptonite’ which Mrk1 released on the Contagious label.
Can you describe your current sound? Have you always been into this genre or has it progressed from other roots / styles?
I’m known as a Dubstep producer but I like to think that all the genre’s I’m into play a part in my sound – Dancehall, Jungle, Soul, Garage, Hip Hop, Reggae etc. I started Djing at school, playing all these type’s of music. I’ve become a part of the dubstep scene and I love dubstep as I can work in all these influences. I currently working on an album with my good friends Fox and Dellano. It’s got traces of all these genres but it couldn’t be categorised into any of them. It’s mad.
Do you have a Facebook or website to keep people up to date with releases etc?
You can find me on Soundcloud at http://soundcloud.com/chimpo-mcr,
Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ chimpomcr and Twitter at http://twitter.com/#!/CHIMPOMCR .
For bookings you can contact strangelyrun@googlemail.com
Do you play any musical instrument or use them in creating your tracks?
I can play guitar a bit. I’m not that good but I’m a good producer so I can record it and make it sound good! Not got it on any dubstep tunes yet but I’ve got some musical stuff with Fox that I’m playing on.
PC or Mac or both? Any overriding factors for the selection?
PC. Because I’m poor! Hahahaa
What music do you like that doesn’t necessarily influence your current sound? What do you like to chill to for instance or what gets you hyped?
I listen to Soul musical to chill and Reggae to get hyped. A lot of people don’t get that. They think reggae is just to chill and smoke weed to but I catch pure energy off it. When it’s good it’s really powerful music.
Any planned collabs for release in the near future and finally who is on the wish list?
There’s a few on the way…. But that would be telling…..
Moving on to DJing – what came first production or Djing? Which do you prefer?
I started both pretty much at the same time. I don’t think I could live without either.
What was your first and last venue you played out at and how did it go down?
First club I played was some grimey little club in town, can’t remember its name. I was 15 and I had to go home straight after my set!
Last was the outdoor stage at Outlook festival with Strategy. We killed it!
Finally any hero’s or villain’s who have inspired you throughout your life?
Rza, Todd Edwards, Dilla, Goldie, Sizzla, Dennis Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, D’angelo, Dave Chappelle, Doug Stanhope, Hugo Chavez, John Pilger, Fox, Gudz, Dub Phizix, Fallacy, Chunky, Rolla, Broke’n’English, Konny Kon, Inque, Banner, all my old mates and my family.
Nice 1 – cheers.
