Relentless Boardmasters 2010 in association with VANS - BMX Mini Ramp Final - Extended Highlights in HD plus Kulez Bio

Some of the most consistant riding I have seen in years. Things are still on the rise for the UK scene with an array of BMX young guns coming up through the ranks to sit along side the more established names. Dean Coleburn's amazing bike skills ruled the day, taking the win from Ben Hennon and Tobias Wicke in joint 2nd.
Everyone seemed on it that afternoon though as the video will now demonstrate fully.
Enjoy the HD edit.

The last track in my video is called BLIK is by London MC Kulez - but who is Kulez? Check out his bio below to find out more, interview or book him as an artist.

In a prolonged fight between rappers and poets it is a contest of wits and it is a must you fight persistently against the elements of rap. These elements are what make the art form, rhyming monologue, rhythm, vocal improvisation, delivery, lyrics, flow, beef and a few others such being real, originality, biting as well as expressing yourself. Kulez, also known as kuda is a rapper that has mastered these elements and started to branch on to other skills in entertainment such as production, promotion, tried his hands at djing, fashion, acting, graff and even breaking.

If you don't believe, do your research. Search for Kulez on You Tube and it will soon become apparent that the Zimbabwean born emcee has already packed in so many punchlines and metaphoric imagery that you wonder how he sustained the intensity for over 100 battles.

At the age of 16, it took Kulez six months to go from street battling for £ 20 on jumpoff.tv to getting flown out to scribble jam, the biggest hip hop festival in the world competing for $ 5000 in front off 10,000 plus people. This made him the youngest ever entrant let alone the only to come from the United Kingdom, adding his name to hall of famers such as Eminem, Rhymefest, Eyedea, Juice, Sage Fracnis, Mac Lethal and The Saurus. He has so far generated over a million combined views, making Kulez the biggest name to come out of Norwich since Colman's.

In 2006, there where no UK street battlers to copy therefore originality was essential. ”Understand!” was a battle cry and Kulez would yell at the top of his voice at opponents - before making sure they did indeed understand they were up against a battler not to be underestimated. Along side other emcee's they influneced a whole scene of batters and gave them a catalog of videos to base their style on.

Late 2007, saw Kulez, aged 17, go against Chester P from Taskforce at Fight Klub, hosted by Ras Kwame. With 5 judges, Kulez got two votes, from Dan Greenpeace (Alliance records) and Big Ted (Kiss FM). Kulez started torching tracks in the studio with Nutty P, making his debut single Smell the Tea, which has sold thousands of copies world wide through I Tunes alone. The single received recognition from Dizziee Rascal's tour disc jockey, DJ Semtex, and his music was often described as humorous, packed with a lot of word play and head scratching similes. Under the alias Kuda Brown, his tunes are a blunt portrait of a character that is the complete opposite of a pew sister and his only aspierations in life is to get inside your sister’s knickers and drink liquor.

Early piano and guitar lessons helped Kulez when it came to production. His older brother, who had reached grade 8 on the drum kit, educated him on basic patterns and snare accenting. Taking drama from a young age and playing lead roles in plays at national theatres, gave him the confidence and presence needed to grace a stage.

By 2009 Kulez had toured the continent supporting his favourite music influences, such as R.A the Ruggedman, Sway, Skepta, Flux Pavilion, DJ Green Lantern, Jehst, Foreign Beggars, Plastician, Michael Parkinson, Ghetto, Devlin, Logan D, Stig, Dr.Syntax, Rusko, Sonnyjim, Kosyne, Jack Flash and many more. He took the stage at field raves and warehouse parties leading to sets at reputable venues like Camden Proud Galleries, Vibe Bar, Brixton Jamm, Plan B, 93 Feet East, Barfly, Fabric, Custard Factory, Favasham, The Fleece, 444 Club, Cable Club, Bomb Ibiza, Round house, The Cellar and many more.

Kulez has Recorded at studios including The Bakery, Rogue, Stakeout, Renegade and many more, and has been seen in magazines like Hip Hop Connection and Mixmag. Worked along side indie labels like Urban Tourque as well as well known nights and festivals like iluvlive, Vagabondz, Trinity, s.o.m.e, Speakers Corner, E.O.W, Outlook, Rising Styles, nass and many more. His music had been seen and heard on pirate radio stations, Kiss 100 fm, 1 Xtra, HHB radio, BBC Radio, MTV Base, Ukflow, channel U and have received good feedback. Kulez went on to be one of the 15 unsigned top UK musicians to be awarded a BBC P.A.F, which came with £ 10,000. Names such as Jack Foster and Archie Lamb, Tinchy Stryders managers, DJ G Child and producers from BBC 1Xtra as well as artists Master Shortie and Sway (2005 Mobo award winner for Best Hip Hop Act) were involved in the P.A.F talks. It was a great networking opportunity, and he learned a lot that he’s ready to put in practice as his career progresses. One of the unsuccessful nomienies was Charlie Sloth, the most watched man in Europe. Hosting his own open mic monthly, he is easy to get in touch with as well as working on several other projects to boost his following from indie to major.

2010 will see the release off more street Mixtapes and a debut solo album for 2011. You won't hear the eerie baritone hollers of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, but the dubstep and d’n’b influence with a hint of grime and a whole load of hip hop lyricism. At 20 years old, still unsigned, no managers, no booking agents or lawyers the kid is fully independent.

Surfing at Relentless Boardmasters in Association with Vans

ASP World Tour 5 Star Event – Tuesday 3rd – Sunday 8th August

The jewel of the Boardmasters crown is the 5 Star ASP World Tour Event. Over 70 of the Worlds best surfers will arrive at Fistral Beach all aiming to take the lions share of the $120,000 prize purse and more importantly the vital ratings points needed to ascend to the World Championship Tour. There are some big names attending notably, WCT surfer Travis Logie from South Africa and ex tour members, Brazilian Victor Ribas and the UK’s own, Russell Winter. This is the only chance to see the Worlds best surfers in England!

Skinner’s Longboard Invitational comes to Fistral – 4pm Thursday 5th August

Relentless Boardmasters in Association with Vans is going back to its roots, where it all began in the days when retro was... well, new school and hanging ten was the equivalent of a rodeo flip.

The Skinner’s Longboard Invitational will be hitting the shores of Fistral Beach on Thursday 5th August and will showcase some of the best longboarding talent in the UK; 8 of the best longboarders in the country will be invited to compete in the ‘winner take all’ format which is sure to be one of the highlights of this year’s RBM.

Relentless surfer Ben ‘Skindog’ Skinner will definitely be one to watch in this competition; he is renowned for ripping on anything that floats and has some serious skills on boards over 9 foot long!

- Prize Purse: £500 ‘Winner takes all’

- Format: 8 surfers will compete in two 4-man heats

- The 2 heat winners will compete in a man-on-man final, battling it out to be crowned the 1st ever Skinners Longboard Champion.

Relentless Aerial Assault – 4pm Friday 6th August

The Relentless Aerial Assault has been inspired by the Relentless Tow-Team of 4 Relentless surfers Ben Grenata, Ben Skinner, Tom Lowe & Fergal Smith who are revolutionising British surfing by seeking out big wave surf spots across the UK and pulling into waves in excess of 30ft! Don't expect to see any big wave surfing at Fistral but you will see the discipline of tow-surfing demonstrated with a twist!

The competition will run on Friday 6th August and the format for the event is as follows:

- Man on Man (draw out of hat, no seeding)

- Best of five attempts (first surfer to three wins)

- The surfers spin the Wheel to land on a trick they must perfect in the water

- Surfers get towed into the waves and attempt the chosen manoeuvre

- Judges choose whichever surfer carried it off best

- First surfer to three wins progresses to next round

- Total of 17 heats

2010 sees a total of 7 stages, (can you find them all) and offers something for everyone.

The Relentless Energy Drink Beach Sessions are on through out the week.
